North Glen Square is proud to be part of Phoenix's District 5, represented by Councilwoman Betty Guardado. Guardado grew up in south central Los Angeles, where she took on responsibility for her household at a young age after her father was injured. She later became a hotel workers' union organizer, moving to Arizona in 2007 and leading organizing campaigns and contract negotiations for thousands of hotel and food-service workers across Maricopa County. She was elected to Phoenix City Council in 2019, winning every precinct in the district, and now serves as chair of the Community and Cultural Investment Subcommittee and on the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Planning Subcommittee. She and her husband have called the Maryvale neighborhood home for twelve years, where they're raising their two children.

Supporting District 5 residents on the ground is Neighborhood Specialist Yolanda Osorio. A longtime West Phoenix resident, Osorio began her City of Phoenix career in 2002 in Street Transportation before moving to Public Works in 2018. As Neighborhood Specialist for District 5, she draws on her collaborative experience across city departments and federal, state, and local agencies to assist residents, and is dedicated to building relationships with residents, business owners, elected officials, and city staff to support a strong quality of life in our neighborhoods.

Together, Councilwoman Guardado and Specialist Osorio give North Glen Square a direct line to city resources, funding opportunities, and a voice in local government.
